Nike, the most successful brand of the South American Recopa
River Plate and Atlético Paranaense are contesting the seventeenth edition of the Recopa Sudamericana. Gathering the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana champions, this contest had previous editions but the current format began in 2003.
Analyzing the sixteen previous editions, from the point of view of Sports Marketing, Nike is the most successful brand of the contest. Having obtained six trophies, the American company was consecrated with Boca (2005, 2006 and 2008), Santos (2012), Corinthians (2013) and Atlético Nacional (2017).
Behind Nike is Umbro. The brand, which is also in the definition of this year, managed to reach the top with Liga de Quito (2009 and 2010) and Gremio (2018). Adidas and Reebok are in third place with two trophies, respectively. The German company obtained it with River (2015 and 2016) and this year also has the chance to add another star; For its part, the English company accompanied Inter in 2007 and 2011.
The remaining three championship teams are Olimpia, Cienciano and Atlético Mineiro. In the case of the Paraguayans they were champion in 2003 with Topper. The Peruvians did the same in 2004 using the Walon brand. And the Brazilians lifted the trophy in 2014 wearing the Puma logo.
