Rosario Central proposes its stadium as a 2030 World Cup host venue
El Canalla officially submitted a bid for the Gigante de Arroyito to host Argentina's inaugural match in the upcoming World Cup.
The announcement was launched via a promotional video addressed to AFA, FIFA, and CONMEBOL, highlighting stadium upgrades that expand capacity to 42,000 all-seater places alongside new parking infrastructure and upgraded hospitality zones.
"In '78 it was a World-Class Giant. We know how to do it... Rosario facing the world," reads the campaign tagline, which features quotes from iconic football figures including Diego Maradona, Mario Kempes, José Mourinho, and Daniele De Rossi praising the venue's intense atmosphere.
The Gigante de Arroyito previously hosted six matches during the 1978 World Cup and served as a venue for the 1987 CONMEBOL Copa América. The club is now aiming to host the single 2030 World Cup fixture scheduled on Argentine soil, setting up a bid competition against River Plate's Monumental.
