FIFA sets record prize money for the 2026 World Cup

The Federation will allocate 727 million dollars to the participating national teams, an increase of more than 60% compared to Qatar 2022.

Just like in the previous World Cup, all countries will receive a base of 1.5 million dollars to cover participation expenses. Added to that are:

-US$ 9 M for those eliminated in the group stage.
-US$ 11 M for those who reach the round of 32.
-US$ 15 M for those who reach the round of 16.
-US$ 19 M for those eliminated in the quarterfinals.
-US$ 27 M for fourth place.
-US$ 29 M for third place.
-US$ 33 M for the runner-up.
-US$ 50 M for the champion.

In Qatar, the total distribution was U$S 488 M, and Argentina received 42 million for winning the tournament. The increase in prize money is primarily due to the new round of 32 stage and the expansion from 32 to 48 participants; however, from the round of 16 onward, all figures will be higher than they were four years ago.
