Aston Villa blocked from wearing main sponsor in UEFA Europa League final
Due to legal restrictions, Dibu Martínez’s club will replace Betano with its foundation's logo on the jersey.
Turkey, the host country for the final, strictly prohibits any advertising or references to betting or gambling, particularly on sports apparel.
Betano, Aston Villa's main sponsor since 2024, stepped aside to vacate the front-of-shirt space, which will feature the "Aston Villa Foundation" inscription exclusively for the match against Freiburg.
The English club ran a pre-sale for the jersey featuring the Europa League final patches, donating £10 from each sale to the foundation. Additionally, 10% of the total proceeds were donated to the foundations of both Freiburg and Besiktas (the stadium's host club).
