The NBA signs with Amazon for game broadcasting
In an official statement, the professional basketball league ended an era with cable network TNT (Warner Bros) after decades together, and signed an 11-year, $76 billion deal with the streaming platform.
This unexpected move is because the American basketball league was looking for a streaming partner to maximize the reach and accessibility of the games for fans. Although the NBA already has its own live streaming platform, all games can be watched with a subscription to NBA League Pass or NBA TV.
In addition to Amazon, NBCUniversal and ESPN will be the new television channels broadcasting NBA games. Prime Video will also take over Warner Bros’ NBA League Pass package.
This agreement will be implemented after the next season.
