The Facebook-UEFA Champions League agreement, a success in South America

The start of this season of the UEFA Champions League marked a milestone in terms of its transmission. By helping new consumers and betting on young people, the European event signed a collaboration agreement with Facebook. In the largest social network in the world, 32 matches are broadcast live for different regions, being a historic event for the tournament.

Less than six months from the start of this agreement and the round of eighteen in the next month, the numbers of displays show high figures. In South America more than 8.8 million viewers enjoyed the content uploaded by the official profile of the UEFA Champions League. Of these, 70% are users under 35 years and at least 1.1 million have followed more than a minute live any of the games transmitted.

These encrypt show, once again, that the new broadcast rights must be close to social networks. Being a world where users choose what content to watch, being able to enter their elections can give tournaments or brands much higher visualizations if they were broadcast on television channels.
