Nike continues to monetize Mbappé despite his high-profile brand switch
The Swoosh has released an all-white boot template inspired by the footwear worn by the French superstar against Atlético de Madrid.
The World Cup champion officially announced his multi-year partnership with Swiss sportswear firm On, marking the brand's maiden entry into elite performance football. However, Mbappé has yet to complete the full transition to On's new boot prototypes, using them strictly during training sessions.
Days after the announcement, Mbappé stepped onto the pitch for the Madrid Derby wearing unbranded, completely blackout/whiteout Mercurial Superfly 11 boots—free of any visible Nike logos—following the expiration of his contract after the World Cup.
Capitalizing on the viral visibility, Nike activated its "Nike by You" customization platform to launch a pre-configured template replicating Mbappé's all-white look. Priced at $400 USD, the offering bridges the market gap for consumers ahead of On's scheduled commercial boot launch in 2027.
