MLS announced the inclusion of the first women-led franchise

Major League Soccer is facing a historical fact: for the first time a franchise will be under the command of an investment group formed by women. The North American competition will include this new Saint Louis team in the 2022 season. Carolyn Kindle will lead this project that will cost about 220 million dollars.

Part of the investment is divided to buy the place in the MLS and the construction of a stadium, where the team will play their matches and will have a capacity for 22,500 people. In the coming months the name, colors and shield of the new franchise of the city will be known, which is located in the State of Missouri and on the banks of the Mississippi River.

“St. Louis is a city with a rich football tradition, and it is a market that we have considered since the beginning of the league. MLS is strengthened by the incorporation of deeply dedicated soccer fans from the city, with a committed and innovative group of owners run by Carolyn Kindle, the Taylor family and Jim Kavanaugh, ”said Don Garber, commissioner of Major League Soccer.
