The Argentine Soccer Association closed an agreement with the Juncos Hollinger Racing team and will be present at the Indianapolis 500
After obtaining the World Championship achieved in Qatar 2022, AFA has launched a comprehensive expansion plan in North America. This new association unites two of the country's greatest passions, soccer and motorsport, in one of the countries that will host the 2026 World Championship.
Claudio Tapia, president of the AFA, highlighted: “Generating actions like the ones we celebrate today between AFA and Juncos Hollinger Racing, highlight the union between Argentines through sport. Today being able to unite two great passions such as football and motor racing in a foreign territory is a demonstration of teamwork. The AFA is proud to support an Argentine driver in the emblematic Indianapolis 500 race and wish Agustín Canapino and the Juncos Hollinger Racing team the best”.
For his part, Ricardo Juncos, team manager, said: "With a design based on winning the World Cup and the colors of Argentina, the #78 car of Juncos Hollinger Racing will be driven by Agustín Canapino, who will be debuting in this mythical race for the first time in the 107th edition and is one of the most successful drivers in Argentine motorsports, ranking as one of the three drivers with the most titles achieved in history and winner of the Olimpia de Oro”.
Leandro Petersen, Commercial & Marketing Manager of AFA, added: "It is very important for AFA to support the Juncos team and involve the Argentine Selection brand in such a popular category in the North American territory and thus continue expanding our brand for the next World Cup".
