Nike keeps the number 1 of the WTA ranking
The match against Serena Williams at the US Open 2018 was the moment of break in her career. The victory against the local favorite and all its history within the circuit, positioned it as the future of women's tennis and the brands soon came to approach different proposals. In just a few months, Naomi Osaka became the new ambassador for Shiseido, Nissan, Yonex and Wowow. With only 21 years, the Japanese won the number 1 ranking and in the first days of April announced a new break in his career: He changed the technical sponsorship of adidas by Nike.
According to reports in the specialized media, Nike will disburse 8.5 million dollars a year and will incorporate Naomi to the select group of tennis ambassadors, among which are Serena Williams; Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova, among others. The new agreement was negotiated by the IMG Tennis agency, responsible for the career of the 21-year-old Japanese athlete. "Nike has a legendary history of making history in tennis and I am eager to be part of those moments for many years," said the tennis player.
