Michelob Ultra will present Player of the Match awards at 2026 World Cup
Following the recent Club World Cup format, the "Superior Player of the Match" will be sponsored by the beer brand.
The award was announced through Leo Messi's social media channels - he's been brand ambassador since 2024.
Ab InBev (Michelob Ultra's parent company and World Cup sponsor since 1986) replaces Budweiser's MVP awards from Brazil 2014 onward.
This strategic shift positions Michelob Ultra as football-focused - also sponsoring 2024 Copa América, 2025 Club World Cup, and their Messi partnership.
Notably, during the Club World Cup approximately 30% of awards were presented unbranded due to age restrictions (under 21) or religious considerations (Muslim players).
