How much money did the top European leagues spend on transfers?
If we sum up the transfer expenses of all the clubs in each of the top 5 leagues this season, these are the results:
No. 1 Premier League: €2.36 billion. The most expensive signing was Dominic Solanke to Tottenham for €65M, and Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United for €45M was also remarkable.
No. 2 Serie A: €1 billion. The most expensive trasnfer this season was Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus, for 60 million. The "Vecchia Signora also bought brazilian Douglas Luiz for €51,5M.
No. 3 Ligue 1: €723.01 million. The star signing was Joao Neves to Paris Saint-Germain, for almost 60 million euros.
No. 4 Bundesliga: €596.48 million. Bayern Munich had the two more expensive players in the season in Germany, Michael Olise and Joao Palhinha, for €53M and €50M, respectively.
No. 5 La Liga: €555.59 million. Although they were the league with the least expenses in the top 5, the spanish championship had the most expensive signing of the 2024/25 season, Julián Álvarez to Atlético de Madrid for €75M. Also, the arrival of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid as a free agent was remarkable.
