“Full-white” shirts in world football
Tottenham unveiled a special edition to mark the 125th anniversary of the 1901 FA Cup, and in Marca en Zona we review other examples of kits with entirely white designs.
Arsenal FC, Tottenham’s traditional rivals, wore white shirts for four years (2021–2025) as part of the “No More Red” campaign against youth violence and knife crime in London.
Another social cause was Adidas’ collaboration with the NGO Parley for the Oceans in 2016. On that occasion, the brand produced a shirt made 100% from recycled plastic for Real Madrid, with the aim of protecting the oceans.
There were two “full-white” kit cases in Argentine football: in 2018, Umbro celebrated the 50th anniversary of Estudiantes de La Plata’s Intercontinental Cup, while in 2024 Diadora paid tribute to Vélez Sarsfield’s founding charter with a special shirt.
These designs are not limited to clubs; there was also an instance involving a national team. In 2016, Hummel prepared a special edition to celebrate its return as Denmark’s technical sponsor, a historic partnership dating back to 1979 that remains in place today.
