FIFA to award custom championship rings to World Cup winners
For the first time ever, the team that claims the World Cup title will receive a premium award modeled after traditional American sports culture.
Crafted with gold and diamonds, the ring will feature the World Cup trophy on one side and a custom detail celebrating the winning country on the other, to be finalized during the celebrations.
Each ring will be individually numbered from 1 to 2026. The first 30 pieces will be presented this coming Sunday, while the remaining 1,996 rings will be released for sale to fans worldwide.
Championship rings are a staple across major US sports leagues, a tradition that began over a century ago in MLB before being adopted by the NFL, NBA, and NHL.
