BMW becomes sponsor and shareholder of Bayern Munich
The BMW automaker will replace Audi as a sponsor and shareholder of Bayern Munich. The current sponsor has 8.33% of the shares, which will be acquired by the company that will support the strongest team in the Bundesliga.
According to the report made by Manager Magazin, BMW will invest close to 800 million euros in the purchase of the shares and sponsorship expenses. At the moment, Audi has contract with the German group until 2025, nevertheless both parts would arrive at an agreement so that BMW acquires the rights as soon as possible.
The new sponsor will invest twice as much as Audi pays to be a sponsor of Bayern Munich. The barbarian team receives about 20 million euros per year, a figure that will be doubled by BMW (as reported by Manager Magazin). Audi is the official car of Bayern since 2011. In the rest of Europe, the German company sponsors Real Madrid and Barcelona.
