The "Marty Supreme" effect on table tennis

The box-office success of the film starring Timothée Chalamet has had a massive impact on Major League Table Tennis (MLTT), the premier American ping pong league.

Since September 2025, MLTT’s social media interactions have surged by more than 2,600%, generating over 21.5 million video views.

Flint Lane, the league’s founder and commissioner, told Sportico that they expect to secure between $7.5 and $10 million in investment over the next 90 days. The funds are earmarked for the creation of a "Series B" development league and the expansion of the "Table Tennis TV" streaming platform.

Founded three years ago, the MLTT received a significant capital injection in 2024 from an investment group that includes the owner of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers.

Marty Supreme has garnered nine nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards on March 15. The production relied heavily on MLTT talent, with several players and commentators serving as actors and technical advisors for the film.
