The "James Rodríguez Effect" in Mexico
The arrival of the Colombian '10' to Club León created a frenzy in Liga MX, now reflected in a rise in ticket prices.
Club América adjusted the ticket prices for the match against James' team compared to the previous game.
For the match against Necaxa, the most affordable sector costs 200 pesos ($10), and the most expensive is $950 ($46). However, for the match against Club León, just four days later, tickets range from 350 pesos ($17) to $1200 ($59), showing an increase of more than 50%.
A similar but more widespread situation occurred when Lionel Messi arrived in MLS in 2023. Ticket prices for all teams in the league facing Inter Miami skyrocketed by more than 900%, going from costing $120 to $1250 in some cases.
