Red Bull Expands its Market into Asian Football
The energy drink company has acquired Omiya Ardija from Japan, which will be renamed RB Omiya Ardija, becoming the franchise’s first club on the continent.
Red Bull ventures into sports by purchasing clubs in different countries and transforming them into franchises.
The Japanese club is the fifth team to join the Red Bull group, following Red Bull Salzburg (Austria), Red Bull New York (United States), RB Leipzig (Germany), and Red Bull Bragantino (Brazil). With this move, the company now has clubs on every major continent, except for Africa, where a football academy project called Red Bull Ghana once existed but was dissolved in 2014.
It is also worth noting that since 2005, Red Bull has operated a motorsport team competing in Formula 1.
