CONMEBOL celebrates South American Women's Soccer Day and bets on its development

This date is established as the most valuable for women's soccer on the continent, where CONMEBOL intends to recognize all women fighters, especially all those who contribute to soccer. Through the Fútbol es Fútbol campaign, developed and launched by CONMEBOL in 2022, it aims to contribute to the transformation and positioning of South American women's soccer.

Since 2016, CONMEBOL has aimed at the professionalization of more women on and off the field of play, with gender equality policies and providing more spaces for decision-making. An example of these policies is the increase in prizes in the next Women's CONMEBOL Libertadores, which will distribute a purse of USD 3,350,000, 68% more than in 2022. This year the Women's CONMEBOL Libertadores de Futsal and the CONMEBOL Women's Futsal America Cup.

At the national team level, CONMEBOL signed an agreement with CONCACAF whereby four South American women's national teams will be part of the 2024 Concacaf Women's Gold Cup, and this year the Women's Finalissima will be held for the first time in history, together with UEFA, a tournament that pits the champions of the Copa América and the Eurocopa against each other. All this is added to the participation of Argentina, Colombia and Brazil in the Australia-New Zealand 2023 World Cup.
