Betting Companies Dominate Main Sponsorships in South America

At Marca en Zona, we reviewed the main sponsor categories of the clubs participating in the group stage of the 2025 CONMEBOL Libertadores.

Half of the teams (16 out of 32) have a betting company or online casino as the main sponsor on the front of their jersey. This includes 100% of the Brazilian, Colombian, and Chilean participants in this edition, as well as major Argentine clubs like River Plate and Racing Club.

The next most common category is telecommunications sponsors, found among teams from Paraguay (Libertad, Cerro Porteño, and Olimpia with Tigo) and Uruguay (Peñarol and Nacional with Antel).

Third place goes to financial services or bank sponsors, with four clubs in this category.

The remaining teams feature a variety of sponsors on their jerseys, ranging from universities (San Antonio Bulo Bulo) to beer (Barcelona SC) and household products (Vélez Sarsfield).
