Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games torch unveiled

Today, the torch for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games was officially presented. The Games will start just one year from today, on February 4, 2022. 

This winning design was selected among 182 proposals. As a main detail, it has the combination of the classic Chinese aesthetics and traditional connotations of their culture.

Another innovative detail is that this design allows 2 Olympic torches to link together at the top when the torchbearers exchange the flame during the Olympic Torch Relay. Something totally exciting for the participants and viewers of this spectacle.

We can add that this new model is made in two tones that represent a metaphor of fire and ice, symbolizing how it will bring light and warmth to the winter sports scene.

The presentation, which was led by the organizing committee, took place in a ceremony held at the emblematic National Aquatic Center, which also hosted the summer event in 2008 and is now transformed into the "Ice Cube", where curling (a sport performed at the games) will be held next year.
