UEFA Champions League debutants feature special jersey patch

With the kickoff of the 2026/27 European tournament, players making their competition debut sported a unique sleeve detail introduced by UEFA in partnership with Topps.

The initiative incorporates a special blue "DEBUT" badge integrated directly into the iconic Champions League Starball sleeve logo during a player's first official appearance.

Collectibles giant Topps will remove and authenticate each match-worn debut patch following the game, embedding it into an autographed 1-of-1 trading card. The strategy mirrors similar debut patch programs seen in Major League Baseball, the NFL, and the Bundesliga.

Topps and parent company Fanatics hold official UEFA club competition trading card licensing rights under an extended long-term agreement through 2033. The debut patch concept will also extend to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with corresponding cards planned following the conclusion of current licensing cycles.
