Palmeiras did not renew with Grupo Globo and their matches will only be seen on Brazilian Pay TV

The start of the Brasileirao Championship, had Palmeiras as the main protagonist. The group directed by Luis Felipe Scolari generated a historic movement in the television of the contest, given that it did not renew with Globo Group. Seeking to improve the cashe perceived by the broadcast of its games, the verdão had no presence in the open TV and pay-per view; but on TV he pays for his agreement with Turner.

"So far, Palmeiras did not reach an agreement on broadcasting rights for open TV and Pay-per-view of the Brazilian Football Championship. There are financial and conceptual differences to overcome. It should be noted that our positioning is based on absolutely technical criteria, with emphasis on audience, outstanding sports performance and the relevance of the Palmeiras brand, considering not only the evolution of recent years, but above all the perspective for the next ones "mentions Mauricio Galliotte, club president, in the press release.

Based on the "Pelé Law", sanctioned in 2001, Palmeiras will have televisions in 12 of the 38 matches that will be played. This is because according to the aforementioned law, the broadcast of a match can only be carried out if there is an agreement between the two sets. In this case, besides the verdão, Fortaleza (its rival of the first date); Athletico-PR; Bay; Ceará; Internacional and Santos, also signed with Turner.

This decision of Palmeiras has as its main axis to have the same number of matches broadcast on the TV Abierta that Flamengo and Corinthians. Equating this, the verdão group would obtain more economic return, given that the chain pays 600 million reais for the package of games for the Open TV and R $ 500 million for those that are issued by the pay signal.
