Florentino Pérez's Masterstroke
Real Madrid's president has filed a legal appeal regarding the issues surrounding concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
Recently, the "Merengues" stadium underwent a renovation lasting over a year, with an investment of 1.25 billion euros. The main goal was to install platforms that retract into galleries beneath the stadium, allowing events to take place continuously without affecting the pitch. However, they overlooked the need to soundproof the venue, and due to constant complaints from Madrid residents, they were forced to suspend all scheduled concerts at least until the spring of 2025.
In response to the decision by the Community of Madrid, Florentino argued that the Santiago Bernabéu was built in 1947, in an area that was not populated at the time.
In a photo from that year, which he presented, there are no buildings visible around the stadium. Real Madrid maintains that, since the club was there first, residents moved into the area knowing there was a stadium, with all that this entails.
So far, the club has been forced to cancel shows by Aitana, Lola Índigo, Dellafuente, and the Music Bank festival. This has led to another challenge, as the production companies organizing these events, such as Universal Music and The Rock Entertainment, had to refund ticket holders and could potentially sue Real Madrid for the cancellation of events due to the violation of regulations.
