"El Último Tango" comes to life
Argentine designers have customized Lionel Messi's 2026 World Cup boots, transforming them into authentic tango shoes.
Envisioned by Marcelo de Wilde (@marcelo_botines) and crafted by Flash Design (@flashxdesign), the customized boots swap out the traditional stud configuration for a classic wooden sole.
Handcrafted entirely in Argentina using local materials and craftsmanship, the hybrid shoes were put to the test by a pair of professional dancers, beautifully blending football with national culture.
Adidas originally launched the F50 "El Último Tango" model ahead of the tournament to honor the 20th anniversary of Messi's World Cup debut. Now, the designers' ultimate goal is to get this unique custom pair into the hands of the legendary number 10.
