AUF presents the future Centenario Stadium for the 2030 World Cup
The Uruguayan Football Association revealed the first images of the renovation project for the historic stadium in Montevideo. According to the plans, the stadium will have a capacity of 63,000 spectators, feature a roof, and the playing field will be lowered by one and a half meters.
This renovation is part of Uruguay’s bid, along with Argentina and Paraguay, to host the opening matches of the 2030 World Cup.
The iconic stadium hosted the matches of the first World Cup in 1930 and was declared a historic monument by FIFA in 1983.
