Wimbledon signs its first Asian sponsorship

The smartphone manufacturer Oppo became a new sponsor of Wimbledon after signing an agreement with the All England Lawn Tennis Club, where the mythical Grand Slam on turf takes place. The company is the first Asian sponsor to support this tournament and will do so during the next five editions.

Oppo is a Chinese brand of mobile telephony that in 2015 was presented to the Western world being the official mobile of F.C. Barcelona. With this new sponsorship, Oppo continues to expand away from its native territory and will try to compete in the markets of the United Kingdom and Europe.

"We are excited to announce that we are the first Asian sponsor of Wimbledon. We are confident that this agreement will strengthen our expansion plans in the European market, "said Brian Shen, vice president of the Chinese company Oppo.
