Puma will be the technical sponsor of Serie A
Following in the footsteps of LaLiga, who two seasons ago changed Nike for Puma as its technical sponsor, Serie A announced that the American brand will leave its sponsorship and will be relieved by the Teutons. In a "long-term" agreement, Puma continues its expansion within world football, where it not only set its sights on clubs but also on elite footballers and tournaments.
The start of this sponsorship will be from next season and if we draw a parallel with Puma's arrival in LaLiga, the possibility of Serie A having an exclusive ball model would not be unreasonable. The agreement not only covers the main Italian competition but will also be the technical sponsor of Primavera 1, Italian Cup, Italian Super Cup and eSerie A.
“PUMA is proud to partner with Serie A and we look forward to many exciting football seasons together. The partnership gives us a platform to promote the brand in one of the world's elite football leagues and will be built on collaboration and ambition. We have always been deeply rooted in Italian football and now we hope to create another legacy together with Lega Serie A,” said Manolo Schuermann, Teamsport director of sports marketing.
It should be remembered that Puma's link with Italy is not something "new", because the German brand is a technical sponsor of the Italian national team, Milan and Sassuolo. It also has as ambassadors, among many others, Giorgio Chiellini and Gigi Buffon, two of the most representative players in Italian football.
