Adidas running and parley for the oceans come together to take care of the oceans
For the fifth time, Adidas and Parley for the oceans are teaming up to mobilize a generation to help end waste in the oceans, as it is estimated that by 2050 there will be more bottles than fish. In order to prevent this, from May 23 to June 8, every 10 minutes of running in select activities such as running, tennis or soccer, registered by the participants through the adidas Running application, Parley will clean the weight equivalent to a bottle of plastic from beaches, remote islands and shorelines before it reaches the ocean.
Katja Schreiber, the vice president of sustainability at adidas, spoke about this initiative: “Time is against us in the race to end plastic waste, so we are working harder and with greater focus than ever.” On the other hand, Cyrill Gutsch CEO and founder of parley spoke about the relationship with the German brand for this project: "Seven years ago, adidas signed a contract to support Parley as a founding partner. With this decision, the Three Stripes demonstrated the courage of facing an epic threat: The plastic waste crisis. Since then, millions of people have supported us with concrete actions.”
