Serbian tycoon buys Southampton for 120 million euros
"Southampton will be the pillar of the organization we plan to build", that's how the purchase by Sport Republic was presented, an investment fund in which Serbian cable television magnate Dragan Solak, from Southampton in England, is involved.
The new shareholders were left with control of the club after acquiring the titles of Chinese businessman Gao Jinsheng for a deal of 100 million pounds (120 million euros). The Asian businessman had acquired 80% of Southampton in 2017, a period in which the Institution flirted with relegation but always remained in the Premier League.
The official statement was made through the club's social networks, highlighting that it was "the perfect solution." It was also mentioned that the businesswoman Katharina Liebherr remains a minority shareholder.
